The L4-1 modular display units, designed by Martin Schrodt, offer a unique and versatile solution for showcasing materials in the field of interior design. The system consists of geometrically coordinated trays that can be combined to create various visual appearances, allowing designers to present their materials in a visually appealing and organized manner. The precision and attention to detail in the design convey a high-quality standard, reflecting the user's commitment to excellence.
The trays are made of stainless steel and are laser-cut with precise angles, eliminating the need for additional joining methods. This manufacturing technique ensures durability and a seamless aesthetic. Each tray is labeled with the user's individual branding and material designation, achieved through laser marking. To protect the presentation surface and facilitate handling, a polyethylene foam pad is included, adding to the overall sleek and concise design.
Transportation of the L4-1 system is made easy with stackable boxes that securely hold the material trays. The system size is aligned with IATA rules, allowing it to be taken as cabin baggage, making it convenient for designers to transport their materials to various locations.
The L4-1 system was developed between December 2009 and August 2015, with the initial design work taking place in Bologna and the finalization in Hemer. Throughout the design process, the focus was on creating a high-quality and neutral system that could accommodate different materials. The modular nature of the elements and the emphasis on precision manufacturing were key considerations. Additionally, the system's compliance with IATA standards ensured practicality and ease of use for designers.
The L4-1 modular display units have received recognition for their innovative design. They were awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category in 2018. This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and technical skill. The L4-1 system exemplifies these qualities, contributing to improvements in the field of interior design and enhancing the overall quality of life.
